Conveyor rollers are used on unpowered (gravity flow) roller conveyors, powered roller conveyors, roller bed belt conveyors and material transport stands to support and move bulky items such as boxes and totes. These replacement rollers can be used to replace or upgrade existing rollers on compatible conveyors or stands. Each roller has a spring-loaded retaining shaft that can be pushed in to install or remove the roller from the conveyor frame or stand. The rollers allow the load to roll from one location to another, reducing the amount of work required to move the load during warehousing, package handling, manufacturing and distribution tasks. Loads roll back and forth on the rollers and they can be pushed from one side to the other along the width of the conveyor.
Impact rollers, or simply rollers, are a guidance and support system that is often used in conjunction with a conveyor system. Rollers are installed to provide additional protection for the conveyor system in areas of high impact stress such as loading and transfer points. In addition to impact rollers, a range of other rubber rollers are available for a wide range of applications and industries. These rollers are used in industries such as wood processing, newspaper and printing industries, plastics manufacturing, medical equipment and material handling (conveying systems). Whatever your application, find the right roller manufacturer that specializes in the type of roller you're looking for, whether it's an impact roller or a polyurethane roller.
Impact rollers are positioned to help conveyor systems handle their loads in an efficient manner. Guide rollers are used to protect objects on the conveyor system or to help products such as drawers, doors, fences and other similar applications stay aligned while in motion. And polyurethane rollers used in the printing world press ink onto the paper in an even manner. All of these applications are very different, which means there are many specialized manufacturers with years of experience in handling each specific type of roller. Guide rollers don't work in impact roller applications because they have different diameter shells and typically have a thin rubber layer, where the impact roller has a smaller core diameter with a large layer of rubber to help absorb the impact. The reverse is also true; impact rollers do not work well in applications where they are used as guide rollers.
If you're not sure which type of roller is right for your application, or if you're just looking for more information on all types of rollers to determine which one is best for your next job. Fill out some "Request for Quote" forms with the roller manufacturers to see if they can provide you with the best solution for your requirements and needs.
