Common industries that use silicone rolls for a variety of applications include paper and pulp for newspaper printing, commercial printing and paper decoration; industrial manufacturing for printing presses and many types of process and converting equipment for applications such as embossing, laminating and strapping; food and beverage for packaging and bottling applications; electronics for computers, printed circuit boards (PCBs), laser printers and copiers; and poly films for corona processing.
Other industries that use silicone rollers include mining, commercial, marine and mail handling. Ideal for perimeter decoration, other beneficial properties of silicone rollers include high elasticity, the ability to firmly adhere to metal, low tack, low compression permanent deformation and the ability to adapt well to surface changes.
Silicone rolls are manufactured in the same way as other types of rubber rolls: injection molding and compression molding. However, silicone is different because it is not a true rubber and the differences are most pronounced in the liquid state. More commonly known as injection molding, liquid silicone is injected using a unique injection molding method called liquid injection molding (LIM). The process involves the proportioning, mixing and dispensing of the two components of liquid silicone rubber, which are thermally cured liquid silicone rubber and a catalyst, usually platinum.
Because it is not very viscous, the liquid silicone rubber is pumped through a pipe or tube to the curing equipment. There, the two components are mixed in a static mixer until a single homogeneous material is obtained. The homogeneous mixture is then transferred to the cooling metering section of the LIM equipment, where the liquid silicone rubber compound is pushed through the cooling sprue and runner system into the heated cavity where vulcanization occurs.
For compression molding, the liquid silicone rubber is injected into an open mold that is closed with pressure, forcing the liquid silicone rubber to cure in the mold. Silicone rollers typically consist of a silicone layer that has been bonded to a metal core, usually aluminum or steel.
Hebei DaYa Rubber Roller Co., Ltd. has strong production capability and professional R&D ability, and a whole set of producing and testing equipment: a mixing mill, filter separator, rubber roller winding machine, Polyurethane pouring machine, plate vulcanizing press, numerical universal cylindrical grinding, digital controlled lathe, planer type milling machine, hard-support bearing balancing machine, rubber tension tester, etc. to meet the demand of production and testing.
The company has also gained the whole quality management system: ISO 9001: Quality Management System Certification in 2000 and the consecutive re-certificate have been passed; the 2008/ISO 9001: Quality Management System Certification in 2008 has passed in 2010.
Through constant technology improvement, my company’s biggest processing diameter is 2000mm, the longest processing length is 8000mm, and rubber hardness (Shore A): is 20-100°.
